I had xp and upgraded to Vista Home Prem.. I had word proccesor on xp but it doesnt seem like Vista has anything but wordpad that doesnt look as good. When I got my laptop, instead of it coming with a backup disk it came with a backup installed on the D drive. After upgrading to Vista, the D drive is still there so I dont know how I can try to use that to get the programs I had on XP or if I even can. Anyone that can offer me some pointers I would really appreciate it. |

| My eMachine came with a 'D' drive with a partition, which had a backup of all software that came with the PC. To install a program I just double click it. On the other hand, my Dell PC has the partition, but does not offer the option of clicking and installing each piece of software. I did call customer support and they sent me a CD with all the software and drivers, and even a Win XP CD. Your other choice is to use other word processing program, other than Microsoft Word. Google Docs & Spreadsheets is an excellent option. (Go to Google and search for Google Docs & Spreadsheets for more info). You are required to sign up for a free Gmail account with 2865 MB, but the program can open any Word document and have many other excellnt features as well. Another good choice is OpenOffice. This is a complete Office Suite with some nice features including te ability to handle Word documents, even if oriignated with Office 2007. http://www.openoffice.org/ |

| If you are simply having problems opening the program, you can run it in XP compatibility mode. Just right click the program short cut or icon, go into properties and in the compatibility mode. You may also want to run it in Admin mode as some programs need admin access to function correctly. |
