| Oh my holy hell that's one major issue! You don't own your system files! I have never seen this issue before... have to tried a formated clean install with minimal hardware connected? Remove everything except RAM, CPU, Hard drive required for installation only, Graphics card, DVD drive and mouse/keyboard. Of course this is all only if you cant take ownership of the file I will have a look around whilst you try again crabby |

| Sorry Sean, same as others here. I'm almost certain that there's some driver issue, but can't tell you which one. Crabby's suggestion may help you solve the issue by isolating some components. Access the Internet and download any new drivers, and then install Vista and see if you can manually update the drivers.

| Man I would need to know more specs to take a guess. Without knowing anything and seeing the device message I would. (At the risk of stating the obvious) Update your BIOS if available check that my drives are booting in the right order in my BIOS as more than 1 drive with vista seems to of aggravated a few users. Thoroughly check the BIOS for any 64bit settings that may of been overlooked. Delete the partition on my drive, create a new one and then format it. This can be done in setup of vista. If you are not getting into vista at all, not even on first boot? Then I can only guess that it is the hard drive order OR the BIOS. I also agree with removing any external drives unless they are SATA connected directly to your Motherboard. You could try running the SATA drives as Native or Visa Versa? With the Raid0 config make sure you install the latest 64bit RAID PRE-Install RAID drivers. If i8ts Intel they can be found at the Intel site or at your Motherboard manufacturer. Gigabyte had Beta Vista Drivers for my GA-965-DQ6 Intel had later ones available. Like I said thats without knowing your specks. I wish you luck with it, keep us up to date and maybe some DETAILED specks on your PC Hardware?

| its ok all.. i got it sorted now.. it was a driver issue... a Jmicron raid controller driver issue.. again!! I found some diffrent drivers for 64bit vista and i give them ago and all was fine The first time round... vista installed.. after the last reboot it stalled at startup and says a system file was missing or corrupt.. after booting from the dvd and running a repair windows said the registry was corrupt so it fixed it and rebooted... and when i got into windows i was welcomed with the you dont own your own system files error ahahaha!... thanks for the input all |
