Vista crash with damaged disks


Has anyone tryed to use a cd or dvd thats scratched and is almost impossible for the drive to read?? well in vista it casues vista to just turn to goo when i use a disk thats got a scratch thats made it hard to read.. cant close the window.. cant get to task manager.. the system just hangs.. and it stays there for ever.. i left it for 7 hours once just to see if it could sort it self out but no.. it was still sat there trying to read the disk... have to reset pc

no.. its vista.... if i take out the disk vista still hangs.. and i cant do anything.. never had that with xp.. if it couldent read the disk and i took it out windows xp went oh you took out the disk and carry on so i can still use the pc.. with vista.. it just falls over.. so the problem is VISTA...

Do me a favour? when it comes to hardware issues i KNOW what im talking about if it was my hardware i wouldent of said it was vista..

I don't know if they work, but there supposedly are DVD/CD scratch fixers (which you may be aware of). You could try one of those Ant. If you do, let us know if what you try works well enough to even consider using.

Ant? where i dont see one! lol... i did use one once but it was a cheap £10 one from JML and it helped with one of my disks.. a little bit but not much
