Unhappy Vista and IE7 Headaches

I recently purchased an HP Compaq Presario with Windows Vista pre-installed. Here are my main issues: I can't download any attachments from my Yahoo mail, can't add websites to my internet Favorites list (I have those that were tranferred from my old computer, thank God), and cannot download self-help or diagnostic tools from the HP Site. My internet connection speed is slower than on my old computer which had half the memory and will not connect to the probably half the sites I try to access....

I had an online chat with an HP rep this morning, explaining that I was having trouble connecting to their site and using any of the tools when I am able to connect. The idiot told me to contact them later from the computer I am having trouble with...duh...if I could access them from that computer I wouldn't be calling them.

HELP!!!!

felix8406 will become famous soon enough

It could be many things, but, did the PC comes loaded with security software? PC manufactures usally bundle a trial version (90-days or so) of such software, McCafee or Norton

If you have that type of software, try removing it. Create a restore point before removing it, that way you can restore your system back if something goes wrong or if you need the software. You can also check your HP website to see if you can download the software later on.

I normally don't use that type of software, except virus protection, because Vista has many of those security features built-in (by the way, you can get free virus protection). I'm using Live OneCare beta becuase I can ge it for free for one year.

Give that a try and see how it goes.
