| Try and grab the Nvidia beta drivers for you g'card: http://www.nvidia.com/page/technology_vista_home.html Hope it helps. Your issue is not due to any start up programs per your symptoms so it is probably driver related as Daz has mentioned. crabby |

| Sorry, Sacredragon. I can't help. All is working well for me except that occassionally I am told I can't access a particular folder--even though I am the owner and the administrator.

| I have none of those issues with my 5472 build... but then again I DIDNT UPGRADE!!! Btw all 5472 users... wanna see the new boot screen? Go to Run, type msconfig, select the no gui boot setting! Its not great, but its cool to see it! crabby |

| Hi crabman: I am not sure that 5472 upgrade is much of an issue. My "upgrade" is excellent. I get the idea that the only thing that a clean install buys you is the opportunity to reformat--which generally isn't a very big deal. And, one can always defrag is pokey performance is an issue. Any thoughts thoughts?

| Ow! My nuts! Proper thoughts from now on then. Sacredragon, my guess it that the desktop enviroment isn't refreshing often enough... or has decided to be wierd in some other way. So press Ctrl+Shift+f9 to disable the acceleration and see if it continues... if it doesnt try restarting it with the same command and see if it works... if it doesnt then grab a new set of drivers for you g'card. https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206..._LH_RC0_32.exe I dont know how to sort the user account thing as I dont know what your issue is. Znod, although you too havent been specific, I am presuming the folder you are trying to use was from your previous install? Even if it is or isn't I have a suggestion! Take ownership of the folder! How to: 1) Right-click the folder you want to take ownership of, and then click Properties. 2) Click Security, click Advanced, and then click Owner. 3) Click the name of the user you want to give ownership to, and then click Apply. If you want that user to be the owner of files and subfolders in this folder, select the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects check box, and then click OK. Hope that works... if not give me more details!!! crabby Last edited by crabby : 08-19-2006 at 12:36 AM. |

| Thanks much crabby. I took no offense at what you said. I set the folder up fresh using the documents that were in a folder in the Windows-old folder. I am going to follow your instructions for taking ownership. I have tried to take ownership before but without much luck. Maybe I was trying the wrong procedure. We'll see. Regardless, thanks much.
