Vista and Wireless?

I am having a bit of a problem, and I am not sure what is the cause. I think it is Vista interacting with something, but I can't even begin to say where the problem might be originating.

We have a wireless connection in the house, and all worked fine before the upgrades to Vista.

Now the problem is this: Periodically, like two or three times a week, the internet browsers, both IE and firefox, stop being able to read URLs. IM programs still work, showing that IP addresses are still processed, which leads me to believe there is a DNS issue. The thing is, this might happen to only one computer, while the other is still able to browse the net just fine. These episodes do not appear to be triggered by anything specific, and once they occur, a computer restart sets it right.

One computer (mine) is running:
Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
with an Intel PRO wireless card

The other is running:
Vista Home Premium (64-bit)
with an ASUS wireless card

The router is a LINKSYS WRT54G Ver. 5.

If anyone can tell me what is going on, or at least point me in a direction to look, that would be great.

Thanks

felix8406 will become famous soon enough

Are you using windows or the software that came with the adapter to configure the wireless network? Windows automatically configures your network, but you can use the software available with the adpter instead. If you don't have the configuration software for the adapters, go to the manufacture's website.

If you are using the adapter's configuration software, then try using windows instead.

LINKSYS WRT54G Ver. 5.

This set of routers has had several problems with Pre- Vista and Vista, on settings.. I reverted back to an older version of Firmware, and it basically fixed by router problems... only time it acts up is when winME is plugged in the cable slot... it simply kills the Vista setup.
keep on Linksys to get there firmware fixed...
PS: I have also found the 802.11b versions work almost flawlessly.
cable and wireless.

Ah, thanks. I'll let my landlord know. He lives in the basement. I hope it is the firmware thing, and not software for the wireless cards. I seem to be having difficulty with the Intel software, although that is just as likely my fault, and the computer with the ASUS card, its owner can't find software.

On a positive note, I am very happy with Vista. I have only managed to blue-screen it once in the past month. Quite an improvement.
