| Well, I'm having lots of issues with Vista and am on the verge of going back to XP (or switching to a Mac). But, I'm willing to give this one more try. To cut to the chase, my major problem at this point is that my Word 2003 program constantly crashes. i've tried reinstalling and repairing Word with no luck. Maybe someone here can help. The error message I get every time is: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: WINWORD.EXE Application Version: 11.0.8125.0 Application Timestamp: 45b6910c Fault Module Name: ntdll.dll Fault Module Version: 6.0.6000.16386 Fault Module Timestamp: 4549bdc9 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 00020154 OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 0d9b Additional Information 2: 5c920a81e72ed3117be695eebc9e3d21 Additional Information 3: 43b7 Additional Information 4: a6fd6903df9e9c9fe1e03cff6c527e05 Any help is GREATLY appreciated. | Have you tried to run word as admin or in compatability mode yet? |

| You did not mention wether you were installing Office from a server or a CD-ROM, so I'm assuming you are installing it from a CD-ROM. Reinstalling the program may not solve the issue unless you remove traces from the previous installtion. When you uninstall, the program leaves certain files in your PC, especially in the registry. When you reinstall, it uses those files again and the problem may continue. 1. Uninstall Ofice then right click Start and select Explore. Go to Program Files and delete any folders containing Office Information. 2. Click Start and type Regedit and click Enter. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft and delete any entry concerning Microsoft Office. |

| On the lines of registry cleaners... any good ones for vista? For now I'm interested on free ones... ya i know... but cuz I'm not about to spend money on software for a vista that I might not even keep. Vista needs to work for me before I keep dumping money and time into it. |

I am sorry to hear that you are having many problems with Word 2003. I use office 2003 too and I have not had a single problem. Try uninstalling the program, use regedit on the run menu and remove any residual registry keys to do with Microsoft Office 2003. Then try re-installing office. |

| It might, but I don't think it will. Registry cleaners delete entries that are corrupted or orphans, but not necessarily the entries that are just sitting there. If there are other files left behind by the setup, a registry cleaner will not delete the register key because it's actually attached to a file. That's why is important to use Windows Explore to delete everything related to a particular program before proceeding with a registry cleaner. Even then it's not a guarantee that you have deleted everything. Going directly to the registry and deleting the key(s) is more effective, but at the same there are risks. |
