| Received a new Ultra ATA-Raid 133 Controller card. which claims to be Vista Ready... it is also listed on the HCL as Vista Compatible. 1. shut down 2. removed old ATA 100 controller card. 3. installed new ATA 133 Controller Card. hooked up HDD;s in same sequence as was attached to ATA 100...(which works perfect) 4. restart system 5. No ATA 133 card is found, during bios post. 6. went to control panel - add hardware- added ITE controller card - vista shows it...IT8212... installed drivers.... reboot as required. and I get a Yellow caution with Code 10... drivers can not be installed, correctly. 7. went to ITE site and downloaded the newest drivers for Vista and same card. Installed new drivers.... rebooted as required... same crud. Yellow Caution with code 10 error.... Bios is set to AHCI No Raid.... I only want to use the ATA portion of this card like with the ATA 100... removed Ultra ATA 133 and using older card. Does this mean I have to via the BIOS turn on RAID to use the Ultra ATA 133 card... or is this new Card Bad.... MS is 1000% no help at all... Card is ITE IT8212 with Vista Drivers v.1.7.1.9 and 1.7.2.9 installed... tested and same results... | I did some searches and could not find mention of your specific problem. My best quess is, as you suggested, raid has to be enabled, but ... ???

| Im at a loss also, even check the event log, all I can see is Slot2 has no IRQ assigned... (slot 2 is where I added the card.) IRQARB: ACPI BIOS does not contain an IRQ for the device in PCI slot 2, function 0. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.

| I removed the card, from slot 2. Inserted in Slot 1. Started, and WHAM, Vista saw it, installed it using driver 1.7.2.7. It is working....Now to see if I can install SP1, and still have the 200 GB or HD's.

| I think this ERROR is really stupid.. but No body ever said I was SMART. 1. original PCI card was in slot 2.. ATA 100 which held the 200 GB of HDs. 2. Shut down system, removed PCI card and inserted the new PCI card. 3. did all the right stuff, added hardware, installed drivers, upgraded drivers. but the new ATA 133 card would not work... 4. Moved PCI ATA 133 card to slot 1 and it works... after several hours of why??? and what happens now... and asking questions all over the NET. The answer to this problem is first uninstall it. 5. I can duplicate this but the problems was: I never uninstalled the original device and drivers. 6. If I reinstall the ATA 100 card, then uninstall it... shut down and insert the PCI ATA 133 card in slot 2... it works.. IF YOU WANT TO REPLACE SOMETHING WITH A NEWER PART... 1ST UNINSTALL THE OLD PART IT CORRECTLY. ps: when ask say yes to remove the drivers.
