Windows and CD/DVD'S


EVERY windows edition there has been has peed me off when it comes to cd/dvd's...

you put a disk in and you cant do NOTHING untill windows has read the disk so it knows what it is.. if your coping files or installing somthing from a disk and it hits a scratch and cant read the disk it will sit there trying to read the data but again you cant do ANYTHING with the pc.. cant open or run nothing and in vista its even worse!!! not only can i not do anything windows falls over comletely! and i have to reset to use my pc again.. WTF is windows problem? i hate that windows wont let you use the pc while is trying to read a cd.. its stupid and it annyoys the HELL outa me!! anyone else got this same thing going on?? anyone managed to stop windows from being an ass?

You are funny. I guess I don't have any scratched CD's. I never have the scratch problem you are talking about. And, in general, I can do things while Vista is readong a CD; I just tried it to make sure.

Ok... do this.. get a disk.. stick it in.. and close the drive then start doing stuff on ie.. keep clickin links... if i do that IE STOPS untill windows autorun has finished seeing what the disk is...

I wish I could confirm a problem, but I can't. I went from link to link without interuption and soon the music started.

Lol Sean... I know exactly what you mean. As the disk spins up the system halts... apparantly waiting for the spin up then once spun its all ok again. It is very annoying! And there IS a solution! Linux

LOL... yes but linux isnt vista ... tho im guessing thats the whole point! lol

Naaa i couldent go linux.. i used ubantu once and spent the best part of 30 mins trying to get it to play mp3's!!!!
