AntiVirus for Vista

I have Vista Beta 2 installed and current. I installed EZ Antivirus and all seems to be working well. Anyone using anything besides that?

Avast 4.6 seems to be working ok so far. I'd be curious to see what other people are trying...

I would like to know this too. I just did a quick search and could not find any information about any standard or built-in virus protection for Windows.

I suspect it is because the support costs on keeping those programs upgraded are too expensive for Microsoft to include as part of the package.

It looks like MS will stop short of incorporating full AV facilities into Vista - reading about the "Windows Defender" application that will be included, it covers spyware, unwanted pop-ups, etc - I suppose all the stuff that doesn't need very intensive support (compared to AV).

Me, I will be happy as long as my favourite AV system supports Vista (AVG Anti-Virus). That way it won't cost me a penny anyway

Mind you, I can imagine some slightly misleading advertising suggesting that the built in software protects you from all known evils....

I know that the alerts are still there if you don't have AV installed. Same as XP Pro.

That is a positive thing, anyway. As a rule of thumb things like that need to be more difficult to ignore than to act on, I think. That way "normal" users might do something about them...

I completely dislike windows defender on XP so I wonder what the virus/safety defender stuff on Vista will be like, how will it work..will it take ages and will I get the same random messages and interference again?

I have Trend Micro loaded, but have not been able to update the engine.

Anyone else using Trend?
