| I understand, but I am reacting to your statement that: "Its up to you whether you buy it or not, but personally I am wary of viruses and so is my PC (firefox+'no script') so paying for something that will never do anything seems a tad odd!" You seemed to be saying that I would never use PC-cillin (which I might pay for) and, perhaps, also, Ad-Watch Monitoriing (which I did pay for).

| Oh, I see, but you have to realize that your wariness is more powerful than mine. I could be wary and still need saving.

| Znod, my thinking is that until there's a final version of Vista, one should wait before acquiring any software. Even if PCcillin beta expired, there are other free antivirus programs available...of course that's just my opinion. I'm using PCcillin beta and it works great (except for the constant updates), but so far it's not available for sale, as far as I know. Who knows, maybe after the beta expires, we'll get to use the latest version for free for a while. |

| It does update a lot. I wondered if it has been trying to impress me with bogus updating.

Just received a notification from Vista indicating that PC-cillin is outdated. When I checked PC-cilling, it shows that the last update was 9/6/2006, however, every time that I turned on the PC or resumed from sleep, PC-cillin downloads and install updates...sometimes five or six times a day. What's up with that? |

| All interesting. I have no idea about the updating. Looks like I am going back to avast!. Was Vista referring to the Vista Beta version? Nice of MS to recommend an outdated program, perhaps.

| Znod, do u still have PCcillin installed? If u do, check the virus definition date and let me know if it's up to date. I already contacted PCcillin, but I want to make sure I'm not the only one with this issue. As soon as I get an answer from them, I'll post it here. By the way, I just tried installing Avast, and still had the issue with the Vista driver. |

| I was ready to try something different. So, I unstalled the program. It uninstalled OK, I guess. But, it left a ton of files in the Trend Micro folder. I installed the avast! Vista Beta(VB) program. Go here: http://forums.windowsvistageeks.org/...findpost&p=269. Avast! VB is nice, but it is lacking some of the features of the non-beta--mainly the ability to adjust the seven services individually. And, its hard to know that the program is running without doing a little usually unnecessary detective work. It is running though
