i tested the trial but it was very limited, from what i gathered it seems like a handy little app.

I just wonder sometimes if registry cleaners are not just a waste of times. You can download two or three different cleaners and they all can report different number of issues. Some report so many problems (perhaps just to lure a buyer) that one must wonder if it's safe to let the program fix them.

I use two different REG CLEANERS both written by MVP's.
Both work exceptionally well. but like all programs if you do not reboot after the use... then the holes are still in memory .... after running, so REBOOT after using...

But what is the application considering an issue and how does anyone know for sure that it's in fact an issue? You can install either Win XP or Vista; run a register cleaner before installing any application or update, and the register software immediately detects errors. Even if they are in fact errors, they probably won’t affect the computer. In many occasions, I think this type of application is overused; deleting stuff that may later on cause more problems.

I think so too. I guess it depends on the accuumulated "registry crud" and the level of expertise of the one doing the cleaning.

Well I've had no problems with this program at all, and I've been using CCleaner for around 2-3 years.

When it comes to ccleaning out the registry you always have the option to backup it up before any changes are made (I've never had to do that as nothing ever goes wrong using CCleaner).

But it is your opinion guys, I respect that...if you don't to use it fair enough but as a freeware program I think it comes in very handy.

It has nothing to do specifically to CCC, but just a comment in general. I just find it amazing how a user can run two or three programs back to back, and they all can find different amounts of problems. And the disparity can be quite large.

Most users make the assumption that if a program finds 20 problems, while another finds 80, the second one is better because it found problems. However, who is to say that those problems are really issues? I’ve seen some programs that have identified shortcuts as orphan even though the application that the shortcut refers is installed, but has not been loaded.
I agree with Vistanoob that “level of expertise of the one doing the cleaning.” One can always purge the problems found and unselect those that may not be an issue.
