Create your own Vista Rating (HACK)

AT YOUR OWN RISK (I did this to bluff a group of annoying forum members)

Navigate to C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore\xxxx-xx-xx xx.xx.xx.xxx Assessment.WinSAT.xml.

Open it with notepad. Approximately one 'paragraph' down, you will see listings between the 'winspr' tags.

These listings include 'system score', 'memoryscore', 'cpuscore', 'cpusubaggscore', 'videoencodescore', 'graphicsscore', 'gamingscore', and 'diskscore'.

Simply change the value that appears between the opening and closing tags.

Changing your graphics score to be over 3.0 allows you to have themes for the photo screensaver.

Other effects are still unknown.

You won't be able to "Save As" with notepad so create the file in another directory then overight the original.

REMBER: Make a BACKUP copy of the original "Assessment.WinSAT.xml" before you overwright it.

Cheers and have fun fooling the masses!

Thank for the hack ants. I won't be using it, but what you propose sounds fun, and your hack is not a EULA problem.

Does anyone know the basis for these calculations. My CPU score is 4.9 - I'm using an AMD Athalon 64 x2 Dual core processor which is 2.2Ghz. I tweaked the speed up by 5% which on the dual core should give me an effective .22Ghz increase. I reran the test and got the same 4.9 - A linear increase should have brought me up to 5.1 but it didn't.

Does anyone have an inside track on this??

The system works on name only... so overclocking doesn't change a thing The hack can be used to trick vista into activating Aero on lower machines etc... but is obviously not reccomended as the locked features are locked for a reason

As for tweaking. I can tell you this, My hard drive rating went from 5.1 to 5.9 (legitimatly) after raiding my 2 SATA drives to a raid0

felix8406 will become famous soon enough

It increases the index level to whatever numbers you set to, but does it actually increase the performance?
