ethernet

hi there i have just bought a printer that has an ethernet socket on it and so does my wireless internet router does this mean i can opperate my printer wireless??? (vista 32bit system, speedtouch585 router, cannon lazer shot LBP3460 printer) info would be greatfully received... micky

What's the printer model? For what you described, you can use a wire to connect the printer to the router, but the printer cannot be connected wireless. However, without knowing much about your printer it'll be hard to say.

its a cannon laser shot lbp3460. its an office type laser printer. it works fine using USB lead but did hope to go wireless with very little cost. had a look round my local pc store and had a word with a few people in the know but no body seemed to have tried it

It's a wired ethernet printer. You can connect it to your wireless system, but need a wireless print server. You can go here to get ideas on prices: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...rver&x=18&y=27

You're very welcome. You still should be able to wired the printer to the router, that way you can use any PC in the network to print.
