Hi Friends: This topic has been done everywhere, probably including here. But, why not see what freebies people are finding to be useful now. I try to avoid installing software, including free software when I can, and, its hard not to do so. There are many appealing bits of freeware out there. So, I don't use many freebies. Here are the ones I currently am using--other than the standard freebies: 1. CCCleaner--for registry cleaning primarily (but, I donated $20) 2. Paint.NET--a substitute for Photoshop given my lightweight photo-editing needs from my laptop. (Photoshop on desktop) 3. ieSpell--very good spell checker for IE 4. Comodo Firewall--64-bit desktop 5. ZoneAlarm Firewall--32-bit machines (Comodo is available, of course, for 32-bit Vista too, is as good as ZoneAlarm (no 64-bit support), and is more user friendly than ZoneAlarm). 6. Skype

| The freebies I am using right now are: Paint.net, the Gimp, Avast Home, on this computer and AVG free on my 2 XP computers, AbiWord, Open Office.Org(on my XP SP1 machine),ArtRage (an excellent painting program for freehand art), and BelArc Advisor. I use Paint.Net for resizing my photos for avatars and other Web pictures. |
