| Here's the response: "Felix, PerfectDisk’s SmartPlacement algorithm is designed to defragment and place files according to usage patterns, consolidate free space, attempt to shrink the $MFT reserved zone to allow more room for data files, and place the $MFT about 1/3 of the way into the drive. Microsoft has stated that doing so can result in a 5-10% performance improvement with NTFS. All of this is designed to increase system performance and slow down the rate of re-fragmentation, not degrade performance. Regards, Sherri"
