Over all things are faster in Vista than XP. (IMHO) even identical test with Passmark... the last final reading shows Vista faster than XP.
Vista to XP
boot up is faster
shutdown is slower
Transfer of files faster HD to HD
Passmark XP= 243.1 basic no boost
Passmark Vista=273.5 basic no boost
all tests ran and average of 7 or more times...

(larger is better doing more in same time frame)
of the 3 games I play I can do online faster with Vista than XP..
CPU-AMD 3000+, 1GB DDR , Vista Ultimate to XPSP2 Corp.
Any other ?'s I can answer in reference plz ask.
my Laptop with Vista found 4 wireless sites... 3 - I could work... XP only found 2 sites, 1 I could work...
I do Defrag and Regcleans and reboot prior to running tests... NO

I know I said this a few times, but Vista will get better and will not doubt will continue to get faster...newer drivers, OS updates and superfecth will have that effect.

Right, we'll see how much change occurs as time marches on. I wonder what Snuffy has done along the lines of newer dirivers, updates, etc. None of the the things you mentioned have made an iota of difference on my machines.
