An update:

After finally getting AA 8 installed successfully my hard drive pretty much crashed. I have no idea why. I finished installing and the tablet worked fine. The next day I did some work on it and then took a nap. When I woke up from the nap the screen was black and gave me the option:
reboot in safe mode
reboot in safe mode without some drivers (something like that)
reboot in last known good configuration
reboot windows normally

It may have listed more options but I tried everything and they all just reloaded the screen previously described. At this point I tried putting the vista dvd in and repairing but that did not work.

I then went to reinstall my version of XP Tablet Edition. I deleted the old partition and was reformatting it. It stopped reformatting a little less then half way through and said it could not finish, their was a hardware problem and to contact the manufacturer.

When I took it to the tech guys here at school they looked at it and when I turned it on this time it could not even find the hard drive. They are going to run some diagnostics and said they will probably have to order me a new hard drive and install it for around $200. I probably should have bought the extended warranty.

Oh well, I guess it never ends. At least I backed up all my stuff about a week ago.

-Mike

That's pretty strange. Hard drives do go bad, but not suddenly unless there's a current spike and such. The biggest issue I've seen with HDs are loose controller cables, which normally don't cause HD damage. On the other hand, a loose power supply cable can easily damage a HD. Whether it's the cable from the electrical outlet to the power supply or from the power supply to the HD.

Concerning the issue with Adobe Acrobat, I tried installing it on me laptop this weekend and received the temp file full message. Turning UAC off or on did not work. I tried running it as administrator, but still received the same message. I ran it as Win XP SP2 compatibility and it worked just fine
