| Same here; when I install Vista one of the first thing I do is turn off the sidebar and welcome center. I figure if I really need those items I can turn them on whenever.

| Convince me. I hate Apple's widgets and likewise the MS gadgets. They are just toys or poor imitations of "real" info providers aren't they? Admittedly, they can provide some useful info, but nothing as useful as my shortcuts. I have WWW links and many browser tabs to provide any info I want plenty fast enough.

| I like the sidebar, and the quick ability to turn it off and on. I like the RSS feeds, Google search, Weather (I can see if it's raining out without looking out the window ) The clock I can actually see without my glasses, and Month, Day, and year in case I forget. |

| Yes, L would overcome my objections. Then, I wouldn't have to devote so much screen to a sidebar to use any gadgets I decided were useful enough.
