DirectX

How do I find out what DirectX I have on my Dell E521 Vista Home Premium? 32 bit Nvidia 6150LE integrated.

I know zero about DirectX but an looking at optional graphics cards. I see some mention 9 while others mention 10 (I think).

Search your computer for dxdiag. When you run that it will tell you what version you have instaled etc and what hardware is compliant. You will have dx9c installed.

And this leads me to another question that is real basic. How do I do a search for dxdiag in Vista - as nothing comes up when I go to SEARCH. I have the option for advanced search and that one I can't figure out where to type in dxdiag.

felix8406 will become famous soon enough

Click 'Start' and type 'dxdiag' in the Search box (Start search).

If your running Vista you should have DX10 installed.. and DX10 is backwards compatible to DX9.0c requirements.
DX9.0c was XP SP2 and if games require DX9 they will still install DX 9 when ask even though you will be using DX10.. a bug not yet fixed in Vista...

Thank you. I found it.

I was typing START then finding the SEARCH below Pictures Documents, etc. then typing in dxdiag. And getting nothing.

Typing on the round start button, there is a white dialog box that states START SEARCH.

It was the second way that I found everything, and yes, I have DIRECTX10.

Yes, this is real basic.
