Has anyone noticed that Gmail has surpassed the 5G of email storage? It is currently at 5874MB and counting. I wonder if it will reach the 6Gs before year's end?

The space is getting ridiculous simply because the attchment sizes are being kept so small! The speed at which gmail's space goes up means that you would need over 200 emails every day to keep up

It's a shame they wont increase attachment size... then it would become a free digital locker

I wonder how much of this space they actually hold? Surely they depend on usage of less than 10%?

I think that what will happen, eventually, is that all that space will become the place for everything; email, pictures, documents, blogs, etc.

As of now the Gmail storage space is up to 5929 MB. But what's interesting, and I just noticed, is that they have have a counter at https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=mail&passive=true&rm=false&co ntinue=http%3A%2F%2Fmail.google.com%2Fmail%2F%3Fui %3Dhtml%26zy%3Dl&ltmpl=default&ltmplcache=2 It shows how the storage space increases each second.

you just reminded me of something that came out a while back Felix, Gmail drive! let me explain because for those who cant remember

Quote:
GMail Drive creates a virtual filesystem on top of your Google Gmail account and enables you to save and retrieve files stored on your Gmail account directly from inside Windows Explorer. GMail Drive literally adds a new drive to your computer under the My Computer folder, where you can create new folders, copy and drag'n'drop files to.
Its not an official google thing, but it works. Tried and tested on Vista SP1 RC1.

Yes and it works fine. One thing though, at least on this side, when I first run the setup, it reports problems, but after closing the error screen everything works fine. I mostly use it to save my documents; it serves as an excellent backup tool. The storage space is there, so might as well use it...it should be up to 6Gs soon.
