Hotmail vs Gmail

Do you prefer Hotmail or Gmail? “That is the question” as the war between the two giants continues. I like and use both, but I’m in favor of hotmail because, as I previously stated on other posts, I feel hotmail offers better protection against spammers and better folder hierarchy. Also, the addition of @live.com makes hotmail much more appealing than before; not to mention its 5GB of space, plus its many excellent utilities.

Not to say the Google is falling behind, to the contrary, they just increased Gmail’s storage capacity to over 5GB; that’s a lot of storage space. It also boasts many utilities as well, like documents applications, finance, photo storage, bloggers and many more.

So which one you prefer and why?

i have tried Gmail but i have always come back to Hotmail. I get board of Gmail very quickly. Never the less Gmail is a great email service, just that i prefer Hotmail. Maybe its just me wanting a bit of eye candy

When I first heard of "hotmail", it was from an email I received from a female way back when AOL was the dominant email client here in the US, maybe around 1993 or so. For some reason, my first impression was that "hotmail" was some kind of adult type email system, so for a while I didn't try it.

I have accounts with both Hotmail and Gmail, but rarely use either. My ISP provides me with up to 10 fairly secure emails, plus the server I rent for my blog and forum allow for unlimited emails. The Hotmail and Gmail accounts are used mostly when I have to grudgingly supply an email account online.

There really isn't much value to me in the server email either, but have set up a few accounts for moderators on my news forum.

ISP email can be the best and most secure, but you have to inform them in writing that you want you addy on no lists, and that you want no junk emails even from them. Then give the IPS addys only to friends who know enough to put you in the BCC slot on multple addee jokes and other junk.

I'm the other way around; I don't use my ISP email for anything. I have two Gmail accounts; one I use for work related stuff and the other one for general purposes. I use the hotmail account for almost everything, as spam is not really an issue. I have the option to block senders or domains and my account stays almost spam free. Same with other related email accounts like @live.com or Office Live Small Business.

Well I have had both Gmail & Hotmail, If I had to chose between the two I would pick Gmail, I currently use "Sympatico" and I wouldn't trade it for anything :P, Other then another paid email address.

I also use both, but I have to admit that I really love hotmail. I'm using it for everything and it hasn't let me down. I think it has to be one of the best free software anywhere; not just the email client, but every other utility that comes with it.
