Anyone else with more one computer online having this problem?? And if I'm on my Sony instead of this Acer, would I be able to log on here?? As far as I know it is not considered proper to have 2 identities on the same forum so that has been my dilemma. I actually have three good computers, all internet ready. All three run different OSs (sort of, 2 versions of XP and Vista). I love them all and each has an important function for me. (I haven't told most of my family about this one yet, I'm the only geeky type, and they'd think I'm...out there....) Anyway I'd like to have the choice when visiting my forums. | You simply login to that forum using the same name and password you first registered with... and using 2 computers at the same time on the same forum. you would need two different names and two different passwords... a sample of same name only different: Stupid and Stupid1 they are the same person on my mIRC forum..and yes both have a different password.. unless your Admin then you can have a Link to or same as Family group..login. Now mIRC I would know if you were loging in 2 or 3 times - reason: I have the ability to see the local IP and that is called clones. which is illegal unless approved by the Admin of the site. I recommend you use the SAME NAME, and SAME password. no matter which computer your on. As for most sites... they say One "Snuffy" is enough. and many on this forum will agree. One is enough..

| Yes, thanks a lot. That's an excellent idea! I'll have to try that and by doing that it would be obvious I'm not trying to assume 2 different identities. So far the answers to my questions have been so helpful. This place rocks!! Actually I never have more than one online at once, but for various reasons I like to alternate between them. I still love XP too. Last edited by Vistanoob : 09-03-2007 at 09:57 PM. |

I have logged into many forums with two computers at the same time under one user/password. If fact to be sure, am presently logged into Vista Babble (under the same account) on both this main, and my backup computer, and on this same thread. Edit: And this edit is done on the second computer while both are still online. Last edited by Sandi : 09-04-2007 at 11:01 AM. |

| I'll have to agree; you shouldn't need more than one screen name to log on from different computers. I too have been able to log on from different PCs without any issues, with just one user name. |

| Was in reference that if it is allowed. called CLONING. Some sites allow and some sites DO NOT ALLOW.. on MY SITE - I DO NOT ALLOW..One Pirate (per name) at a time is enough. Quote:

It is something that I rarely ever do though, and never with any malicious intent. For example I may if my browser and or computer is busy in another tab waiting for an intense operation to finish, for example re-indexing (or republishing) my many blog posts that may be necessary after a template change. I don't know what unfair advantage it would be to someone, unless maybe to vote twice in an anonymous poll or something like that. |

| Hi again, It seemed weird to me that if I had the correct password and user name that I would be locked out but that's what happened. Maybe the fact that the 2 computers are running different OSs. Or its rare. I havent joined many forums and this is the first time I've ever had more than one computer secured for the Internet, so this is the first time I've ever run into it. When I visit on my Sony I'm Vistanoob1 here. I would have used the same name on all the forums but often a name would be taken, so I would have to think of one on the fly. I don't think cloning would be an advantage either. Cute atavar Sandi, I'm a Firefox user too. |
