Although many of us that are testing Vista are using different builds, I'd still like to get a general consensus on how you think it is performing. So, this poll will be for Vista in general, regardless of what build you are using, but feel free to add comments about your particular build in the thread itself.

| I have used every build from 5384 on, except 5744. So, I am on 5840 Ultimate now. The worst problems all along, IMO, have been the incompleteness of the Windows Mobile Device Center and the bugginess of Windows Explorer. I am sure that both of these issues will finally be fixed on the RTM. I have been able to fix the first one on 5840, while using BT, via available driver downloads, and so far Windows Explorer seems more stable than in prior versions. But, time will tell on the on the Windows Explorer issue. If I was able to use 5840 Ultimate indefinitely, then I would have no reason to go back to XP Pro. So, I definitely will end up with Ultimate when Vista is released. Many small betters make Ultimate noticeably more desirable than XP Pro to me.

| As regular readers would expect, I have voted not better than XP. But I have no issues with it. I am satisfied with the performance of Windows explorer and Internet explorer. Cannot comment too much on anything to do with media. I am not an enthusiastic game or music dabbler. I am using a compeletly customised copy of RC2 (5744), as my only OS now. I still have XP lurking on another partition but have not been back there for a while. Why RC2. Well it'll be there for about a year - I could not face the prospect of reinstalling the latest release every 15 days. Before you ask ref my first cooment, I am using Vista as a preference to XP because I am a natural born update freak! |

| I would say it is pretty darn good. It has literally expanded on xp in my opinion and has made some very good new innovations. The only reason I didn't say it was 'excellent' is because it still feels very 'closed off' - something to look at and not get in to... it won't be a part of my soul. crabby |

| Thats the only problem i have with it to crabby... in xp all the settings like ip settings for my network are easy to get to... in vista i got to go though loads more windows and menus to get to those settings... and then theres that dam UAC!! nice feature but it dose get on ya nerves after a while!!! I think M$ just made vista as "Eye Candy" |

| I like the fact that, in my opinion, it's easier to setup and learn than Windows XP. It might not seem that way for some, but let's not forget that XP has been around for over five years, so we are more used to it. I don't agree with its price though, it cost more than some new computers.

| Well, now that I've had the chance to mess around with RTM for over two weeks, I can truly say that I like what I see. Although according to Microsoft, and Dell, my laptop is not Vista capable, it sure feels like it is. It runs just as fast as with Win XP. The only drawback is the 1.9 rating for graphic card Win Aero and 1.0 for gaming performance. However, I have not encountered any issues with drivers or software. I’m sure the final version will rock.

| I am up to RTM now. RTM doesn't seem much different from some of the other recent versions. But, I like Vista a great deal. As said elsewhere, the interface is very attractive, and, in general, Vista contains many small improvements over XP Pro--mostly noticeable in the Control Panel Area. When all of Vista's new features are added up the first released version of Ultimate becomes a must have for me. Also, I have been able to network several XP's (one wireless), 2 RTM's (one wireless), and one OS X (wireless) without undue problems. Also, network printing is working on all machines. I still like XP Pro though. So even after I get my gladly paid-for version of Ultimate I still will go back and forth between the too on my dual-boot system. For one thing, I will be using Ultimate for a variety of media-related things.

The biggest difference in between RC2 and RTM I noticed is in the speed; RTM, at least in my case, runs faster. Although like I mentioned before, RTM found all drivers for my laptop, something RC2 didn't do.
