I have been beta testing Live OneCare for a while now and currently testing version 2.0.2350.10; so far I feel satisfy with the improvements. Yesterday we have an online chat with various OneCare experts, including program managers, developers and the beta coordinator. It was a chance for beta tester to ask and have their questions answers. They invited over 4,500 beta users, but only about 30 people participated. Anyway I thought I would share some of the questions and answers here for the next few days. One of my questions to the panel had to do with the fact that OneCare does not provide the option to create an emergency rescue CD or DVD as other security suite. This of course could be a problem if the PC is infected and cannot be booted. According to the team, their goal is to build OneCare to provide better protection from threats, thus reducing the chances of a virus infection. However, they are working in an emergency recovery feature. |

| One neat option about Live OneCare is the ability to monitor and manage all PCs, maximum of four, from one location. If you install OneCare on more than one PC, you can run tune up, for example, from your computer on another PC within the network. One user wanted to know if this option would be extended to other OneCare applications, i.e. Update Now and Backup Now utilities. According to the moderators, OneCare V2.0 remote features are pretty much set, but they are currently in their planning process for the next version and we'll be looking to add more options. |

I always thought that OneCare was released too soon, which caused too many bad reviews, which of course is not good from the business standpoint. I asked the moderator whether they felt OneCare was released too soon to the public. They felt that it was not the case. They concluded that many people were not installing any type of protection on their PC, and felt that releasing OneCare they prevented many of the threats. I’m not sure about that answers though, since many of us removed OneCare as quickly as it was installed due to so many compatibility issues. |

| not sure felix but it had the network management tool, but unfriendly it didn't work for me. the Beta has some great new features with stuff like the live online backup tool. I may give it another try if its a newer beta.

| Online Photo Backup beta testing is going on right now; invitation only. You get access to 10GB of free space. The neat thing about it is that users can control PCs in the network from one PC and all photos from the PCs are stored within the same storage space. By the way, OneCare beta program began in Apri 2006, so if you were invited then, you should still be able to test this new version. I don't know if they are accepting new beta testers, but you can try by going to this site: http://get.live.com/betas/onecare_betas |

| OneCare circle has a limit of three PCs. A question was asked about removing this limit to connect more computers remotely; family and friends. According to the moderators, they are working up to this limit (three PCs), but currently this is a "soft" limit, meaning it's not enforced. In other words, you should be able to connect remotely to more than three PCs.

| Another Q & A from the chat session: Will there be a OneCare 3 and if so can you tell us what might it have? There is a "next version" being spec'ed out. We take all the feedback from chats, forums and newsgroup, plus the work we do in usability and requested features and put it all together.
