Not a lot with Vista, some with IE7 on XP SP2, half a decade on 98/ME/2K/XP.
The only thing with Vista (/w UAC) you have to remember is *NOT* to install/unzip maxthon in your program files directory but somewhere within your My Documents folder or wherever you , and therefore maxthon, has full read/write rights. Not much of an issue when running Maxthon 1.x or 2.x beta off an USB stick.
Disclaimer: also use gecko based browsers since , IRC, FireBird 0.7 upto 3.0alpha now , Opera since 3.60 (to mention only a few of the browsers I use).
