Microsoft and E-Bay

This is not directly having to do with Vista, but rumor has it that Microsoft is looking at potentially buying E-Bay. Do you think they might add some E-Bay and Paypal functionality into future iterations of Vista or future operating systems if it comes to pass?

That is interesting, especially since Yahoo just partnered up with ebay. I have a feeling MS won't buy them, but if they do, then i could certainly see some uses for integrating ebay/paypal into vista. Shop and buy right from the desktop - an ebay desktop gadget, eh?

That would be very cool, but in a way it kind of monopolizes e-bay as the sole selling site even though there are plenty of other ones. People always tend to go for the integrated options.

Yeah it sounds like the anti-trust issues could be the hold up, and I am sure people like Google will try to do anything they can to get in the middle of such a partnership.

Apparently Microsoft looked at merging with Yahoo! but decided that since they are ONLY a content company it did not make sense for Microsoft.

ohman. But wouldn't integrating PayPal in one way or another give rise to an entire range of new security issues?

Yeah I don't know how much substance is there:

So maybe not much to it, but you never know.
