I have not been able to change from a Workgroup to a domain; I have several computers and a VPN successfully using the domain but this machine will not "join"... I am able to access files over the network and map to files in the Server, but I'm still showing as a member of a workgroup and cannot change to join the domain. Any ideas? |

| What edition are you running? I know of an issue with 64bit Vista which i believe has been resolved. Here is a link to the KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917903/en-us It also gives a fix, if this is your issue. If this isn't your issue we need to know any error messages etc. crabby |

| Thanks crabby... but no. I'm running a 32 bit version (Business Edition) The Server running the DC is running Server 2003 Enterprise Edition... error message says no DC available... or something like that, I'll try again and copy the error message exact and send. |

| I just tried again... and was able to join my domain. Go figure. I still do not see a couple of the VPN (remote location) machines, but can not be sure they are on, will need to go see (or RDP) strange... unless I was making a username or password error (repeatedly?) All is well that ends well... I have this machine on my domain. Interesting NOTE: despite the fact I was not authenticating at log on or a domain member, I was able to access Network recources; Exchange Server, email, (Mapped & non-Mapped) Drives on the Server... by using/setting my domain username & password on the Local (this machine's administrator) identical to the domain user... |
