I had a P-4 3.2 before this 3.4 Presler 945 D core and you find out you can do a lot of tasks at once and not slow down the chip and this 945 with the Zalman 9500 runs cool as a cucumber and I mean cool when I first install it I thought there was a problem with the monitoring but I have check it with different software including the bios and they are all pretty close it putts along surfing and such at 18-20c this time of year with Mobo at 26c room is 22c plus i put lots of poliching work on cpu and heatsink with AS well glad to see someone is upgrading or taking advantage of the price cuts from Intel.

excellent i think i got a good buy then, its should serve me well for a few years at least. Now i just need to sort this fan out, when i turn on the PC it goes crazy then it gets a bit calmer...but still noticeable loud...any ideas to shut it up a bit?

all depends... if your mobo is ausus the chances are theres a thing called q-fan control in the bios, just turn that on and it will control the fan speed depending on the cpu temp.. if the temp is low the fan spins slower if its high the fan spins faster. i have it one on my pc lol.. its qutie funny.. when the pc boots up it steadly gets faster and faster while windows loads.. once its loged in and loaded up the fan slows down and you can hear it.. then i start doing stuff and i can hear it speed up a little lol

Um.... no other information? PWM stands for power management, so they are pretty generic 'settings'
