Simple josh, just put in the disk and away you go. proberbly best 2 boot from DVD if u want a cleaner re-install. As its OEM you might not have 2 type in your product key, i know i havnt needed to in the past.

Buster no and don't sware. I just like to know these things thats all im prob gonna reformatt when SP1 offical final comes out Ant question no cd so do I use the inbulit restore thing also how a get PK. PS really im not reformatting I just wanna know.

Best of my Knowledge is HP-Compaq still sends a Manual with their Laptop(s) ... and I never seen any SWEAR words from Buster.

You might also make sure you have your OEM KEY (written down) .. then download the Official Authorized Version of Vista... make a Bootable DVD, then if you do not want to use the "hidden partition restore function" included you can simply Boot to DVD and Clean install with NO KEY then add the OEM Key and be Legit.

You can also call HP or Compaq and have them send you a copy of the OEM for normally "Shipping and Handling" UK might be different. This info should also be included in the manual which came with your Laptop. Normally OEM DVD's do not need a KEY to install, it is added by OEM so that you do not need a KEY..

Maybe the UK does not furnish all the same that comes with the USA versions.

You did mean SWEAR (sware)? as in Cuss?
Why should you Format (reformatt)? It is not needed, you can simply uninstall the SP1 via the control panel, Programs and Feature function.

The reason I added they word the way you spelled them is I'm not 100% sure
your words mean what I am relating too.

I second what Snuffy said about reformatting just for SP1, not worth it just use the uninstaller.

sorry compaq it isn't swearing were I come from Its the equivalent to messing it up but I guessed you were just looking to see who would respond giving your knowledge of computers and what has been on this site by snuffy for the past month you should already have the answer

Buster mate I told you im JoshW02 look me up. And "bugger" is considerd swearing in the UK. And PK product Key and ill say again not reformatting.

No it isn't Josh im from the UK and i don't find it in the slightest offensive. You might be a tad over reactive on whats is and isn't swearing. We all know Busters intentions weren't to offend anyone and im sure u went offended by a common English word "bugger" too.

On the abbreviations subject its best to type in full if it isn't a commonly used abbreviation. It can get rather confusing sometimes.
