OEM Version of Windows VIsta?

{begining}________________________________________ ______________________________

Guys, where do you get OEM versions, is OEM the Upgrade version, or the full version, and is OEM the version in the nice shiny box, or is OEM version, just a disc, in a plastic bag?

Joseph

Actually OEM does stand for "Original Equipment Manufacture" and normally you buy a PC with it pre-installed... but you can purchase OEM from some sellers..Retail comes in a BOX as does Upgrade.
So many ppl have purchased OEM for less $$$ and say its Retail, but it really is not...and the EULA is slightly different from Retail to OEM to Upgrade and
Auto Upgrade is different also..

OEM comes in a DVD sleeve. It is sealed by a cardboard OEM license which you agree to if you break the seals. Inside is a full Vista DVD which installs exactly the same as a retail disc.

Yes, and OEM pre-installed (versions I have seen) come in a paper sleeve which are labeled (X name "Restore Disk" ) which have a "cert" embedded with them so they only work with certain Bios. The Restore Disk I tested would not install, repair "It simply said Non Compatible".. but when installed in the correct machine. It auto restores to like original factory settings and reads 89580-OEM-xxxxx-xxxxx.
x name can be EMachine, Asus, Acer, Dell, HP, or such. The two (2) set(s) I have seen are EMachine (GateWay) and Acer.

Last time I checked so many places have OEM for sale...
Tigerdirect, NewEgg, WalMart, Shoping Yahoo, Ebay, and prices vary.
Use Google an ask for "Vista OEM prices"

I got mine at newegg.com for the same price as at Amazon-$199.99. And, Joseph, please be aware of the OEM EULA before you decide to buy. See, for example, posts 79 and 82 on this thread: http://www.vistababble.com/forums/ot...highlight=EULA.
