Office 2007 Pro

Need some help. I installed Office2007 Pro, which I downloaded from Microsoft's website for my participation in the Power Together campaign. There are two downloads, one for Office2007 and the other one for Microsoft® Office Accounting Express and Outlook® 2007 with Business Contact Manager.

The Office2007 installation went well and everything works just fine. However, when I try to install accounting express, the setup runs in a loop, in other words the setup completes and starts again. No warnings or anything, it just keeps on running. The second time it did that, I left the machine running and went to attend my yard, when I came back there hours later, it was still running.

Any ideas?

Wow, I don't think I have ever seen you need help before. Hope I can.

I have had a few installers that have done similar things. I know you won't like the idea, but I have always interrupted them one way or anther--either Ctrl-Alt-Delete, using shut down, or actually pushing the power button. Funny thing is that the programs always have ended up installed after their interuptions. I know that you know that you should try my idea only if it seems OK to you and at your own risk.

Thanks Z, but I already tried that. I want to contact MS about it, but it might take a while to get an answer. I don't really need those applications, but would like too try them to see how they work.

I ran a repair install on Office, but still have the issue whe trying to install those two programs.

Compatability mode? The issue might be that the setup can't install a file due to admin privledges ,also.

I haven't had a chance to play with it today. I'll try again when I get a little break. If it doesn't work, I'll contact MS.

Send a message via MSN to Snuffy

You might try uninstalling the program(s)... if it loops.. might be due to the other not cleaning correctly "the trash". then reinstalling... make ssure you install every program - as admin, and turn off your AV.

Several (test) or (beta) programs from MS I have tried I have either had to repair or uninstall then reinstall... so most of the time I simply login as Admin, the ininstall... saves time.. that is why I also use Vista Manager -> cleaner --> smart uninstaller to remove all aspects then try again...

Good Luck

I must be on the new server the smilies have changed...

Issue solved, MS provided an update the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and that solved the issue.

Well, I was wrong, the issue has not been fixed. After I installed the update it worked fine for a few days, but then I received the same update notification. I installed the update and a few minutes later I received another update notification for the same file. After the third time of receiving and installing the update, everything looked fine. The following day I received another update notification for the same update, but results were the same. This time after the fourth time of installing the update, the update notifications finally stop. However, on the following day I again received the update notification. This time I tried the installation three times, stopped and contacted Microsoft Support.

According to a tech, the issue might be a third party software. He also said that since the update was successfully installed the first time, it doesn’t need to be installed again.

The first thing we did was hide the update, which is very simple to do: Start > All Programs > Windows Update > Click ‘View available updates’(assuming there are available updates) > Right-click the update and select ‘Hide update’.

The next thing we did was to collect a listing of Windows Update; Start > Type WindowsUpdate.log in Search Box and press Enter > Save the file to the Desktop or any other folder. (You can find some interesting facts about your PC through this log)

The second file we collected was the System Information; Start > Type MSINFO32 in the search box and press Enter (This file contains every piece of information you may need about hardware/software and OS)

I sent this files, along with a few snips I collected about other issues, to the MS tech for analysis and possible solution. The tech works the grave shift and it might not be until early morning before I get the results. I’ll post here as soon as I get any information.
