i have always stayed away from religion, think its because of all the wars and arguments and the bad side of religion stuff kinda put me off. Everyone has there own rights for believing in what they want and on the reverse side i think i have the right not to believe. I don't know why we are all here on this earth and if im honest i don't want to find out.

When i have thought about religion in the past its always come up with nothing for me like who made the universe....god...who made god....nothing....who made nothing. Just keeps on and drives people insane

On the other side for some people religion gives them a sense of warmth and guidance and thankfulness in life. I respect that and try to understand there faiths as much as i can weather there Cristian, Hindu or Jewish.

Buster, yes, the something or nothing could somehow be more than one--including all of "us."

Good points. Keep in mind, though, that there is a heap of difference between religion and spirituality and that the spiritual may or may not be religious and the religious may or may not be spiritual. And, your comments are the kind that led me to believe nothing about the nature of God. Speculation is idle. So, I never give God any characteristics beyond having somehow been responsible for the creation of the (perhaps only this of many) universe.

From Znod:

Oops. I haven't done that in a long time. I've been away too long to remember that, with my God-like forum powers, I can edit the posts of others. Well I though I was replying to Felix, but, darn, I was in his post. So, I typed right over what he said.

I'm sorry Felix.

Felix was talking about reading Illusions long, long ago in a fox hole far, far away. He discussed how the thesis of Illusions is that we create our own realities, etc. I can't remember more specifics, but my reply, below, is in direct response and, agreement with, what he said.

I am sorry, sorry, sorry Felix.

Znod Replied:

I read Illusions long-ago--in the 60's--perhaps about the time you did. I liked it very much, but can't remember too much detail. Indeed, I had forgotten about the book until you mentioned it. While I seldom say that I believe anything, I think it is highly likely that we are in an illusion of our own creation--ergo, my earlier comment about us being in the four-dimensional video game of life and, thus, lacking the abiltiy to see "reality" clearly. I could go on a long time about the analogy, but consider only that when the switch is turned on the video-game universe burgeons apparently from nothing (i.e., How could anyone imbued the limited consciousness allowed by the game infer what really came before the "light" or what was responsible for the existence of the game universe, etc., etc.)

maybe light also being energy is where it really is but as i said earlier thats far to much to bring out for Christmas.
I teach this stuff now and it can get pretty heavy for some where like this so we will leave it there I think.
It is still very nice to sit with family and enjoy the season no matter what you think.

Yep on all counts. On the first, I don't teach it, but I've pondered it for years and years and years. There is a good article in one of the latest Science for the masses (more or less) magazines about what's his name. I can't remember his name now, but he was, as I recall, the first to take the mathematics of quantum theory to their logical conclusion--an infinite number of parallel universes. If I had to buy a model, this is the one I'd purchase.

Oops, I clarified what's above. I did the same thing to either you or Sean once. Whoever, he called me a wanker--which I now know isn't too bad. LOL!!! Something like a twit. Then, we got into the Monty Python "Upper Class Twit of the Year Award"--or something like that. Still about the funniest thing going.

Sean said, that to him, wanker was like twit. He was just kidding. It was in a PM. What happened to Sean anyway?; I miss him. Felix didn't say anything wrong. Check my apology post again. I think that the explanation is all there.
