Well I goofed, installed the new 200GB SATA II HDD, this AM to replace the older Maxtor 160GB ATA.. Booted, used Disk Management to Partition into 3 parts... then ran the HD TACH Program.. wow, very disappointed. HDD 0 new SATA II tested at 129.9 HDD 1 WD Sata II tested at 187.7= Boot drive HDD 2 WD ATA 7200 RPM tested at 74.3 Huuum read the manual again, and the Manufacture had set the system to DEFAULT at FORCE 150. - Reason they give is too many Mobos today support only SATA and not SATA II. ( I actually misread this - I read to FORCE 150 move to the other 2 pins) any way I removed the FORCE 150 plug (the setting is NO PLUG for 3.0 GB ... Booted and reran my HDD TACH program. HDD 0 new MAXTOR SATA II tested at 219.8 (Big improvement) HDD 1 WD Sata II tested at 187.7= Boot drive HDD 2 WD ATA 7200 RPM tested at 74.3 Just have to send the old (3 mo old) HDD back .. Even tho I told them NO THANKS. Well some companies just do not listen - Under Warranty is Under Warranty. besides I figure my old buddy knows me pretty well ... Thanks to Maxtor for honoring there WARRANTY...
