Or what you could do is set avast to download the latest version automatically, thats what I do.

If you want to do this right click the avast tray icon then again, Program Settings -> Update (Basic), then in the program section click Automatic.

I find it easier and much better set that way.

Just a simply observation for those that use AVAST AV.
The only difference in FREE and Paid Version is Serial Number.
My buddy bought his version... did not like it... told me about he was scrapping it for xxxx. I ask how about the SN can I have it...
Sure he said, then emailed it to me.... I change SN and my version is now
Avast Pro instead of Avast Free. Im sure they do something different but the switch was EASY... change the Serial Number or KEY..(it did want me to reboot).
