One feature designed for Vista that has not been mentioned lately is ReadyDrive. A ReadyDrive is simply a hybrid hard drive with flash memory built into it. It’s supposed to be a great addition to notebook computers because it can reduce power consumption and prevent damage to the HD as the notebook is transfer from one place to another or from one meeting to the next…many HD damages are caused when the computer is moved while the platters are still spinning. Other benefits include faster boot-up time when the PC is started or awaken from hibernation, and less HD noise. For what I’ve seen, current hybrid HDs have a flash memory of 128 and 256, but I’m sure as this technology moves forward, memory limitations will not be an issue. |
