If you have an extra partition large enough to install Vista, run the 64Bit on a separate partition. Biggest issue with the 64Bit is drivers. By installing the two versions on separate partitions, you'll be able to try both versions and see which one is going to work best with your current system configuration.

Yes. If you have Win XP and Vista 32Bit already installed it'll be tri-boot. The reason I suggest you install both versions is because it'll allow to find out which one is your best choice.

Just a question? if your copies are not RETAIL nor OEM and
Quote:
With the release of Vista, Microsoft simultaneously launched the 32 bit x86 and the 64 bit x64 editions. The retail editions contain both the x86 and x64 editions, while the OEM versions contain one or the other and you have to decide before you order. Now one of the most common questions people ask is whether to run 32 or 64 bit Vista.
my copy is Retail Upgrade.. so guys what is his copy? Crabby thinks it is a FREE Genuine Copy. I did also at first ... now I'm not sure..

I can't load vista 64 bit. Has a error 0x80070017. I have XP on one HD and Vista on another hd. I also have a 3rd hd that is empty. Trying to put the 64 on the empty HD with no luck.

Installing Windows Vista, Error code: 0x80070017, Bad X64 ISO.
(A list of what the error could mean! some of these seem rather strange.)
1. test to see if you can copy the iso to HDD
2. then try to install that way.
3. very common error, make sure the HDD/partition is formatted to NTFS using the DVD or Vista to do it... many time XP does not format correctly,(unknown reason).
4. Same error comes when the Disk was burnt at too FAST a SPEED.
5. Make sure your burner can read 64bit?
6.
: The error message is quite clear about what it's
missing. The files on the disk are likely corrupt and cannot be read.
7. Make sure all drivers are Vista approved, and try installing with the BASIC only like, No extra devices, only what is BASIC to install with...

8. TURN OFF YOUR AV. TURN OFF THE FIREWALL. TURN OF THE INTERNET CONNECTION.

9. It might be FAKE..( test using the SH1 code.)

and the same KEY is used for both versions...

The dvd RW is a Sony DW-Q28A. The DVD drive is a Sony DDU1622 . How do you tell if they read/write 64 bit.
