I only have one drive installed...the SATA drive. UPS is to delivered a replacement EIDE HD from Seagate some time today and I'll set it up to master; it should work just fine. By the way, Seagate was quick to send me a replacement. I placed the request on Monday and it'll be here today.

My MOBO is a FOXCONN'S WINFAST NF4UK8AA. I'm not planning to play with it for a while though, other than installing XP alongside Vista. I'd rather install XP on the EIDE HD that way both OS will be on separate HDs.

Excellent info about the fan grills, and the faultly HD. Cool that you're getting a replacement. A FOXCONN MOBO! right on! My favorite published guru recommends FOXCONN boards.

I've never used FOXCONN boards; I used mostly MSI because of their many useful utilities and applications. I got this particular board because of the low price and futures...I feel I got a lot of motherboard for about $37.00 US. It incorporates AMD Cool and Quite technology and the noise level is hardly noticeable.

As for the HD warranty, I guess it's cool to register your purchase, but I don't think it's necessary. Last night, after I posted about the Seagate HD, I went through my old stuff and found a WD 120MB HD that a customer had left with me because it didn't work...you could hear the loud clicking sound and it ran at full throttle. I went to WD website and found out that its warranty expires in March 2008. So I completed all the require information and now I got another HD on its way here. They even provided a link to print a shipping label, which came to $5.69 US...not bad for a 120GB HD.

Finally got it installed. I received the HD and tried to install XP but got the same result as before. Got an older non-SP2 Win XP CD and it installed just fine; of course it takes forever to run all the updates. But when that's done, I'll save an image so I won't have to go through the same process again. So I have Vista on the SATA drive and Win XP on the EIDE.

4. Grab the SP3 disk, install....

Only way to do Vista also....officially Vista RTM has from clean install, 86 updates...No way... install from copy of Vista SP1... even the beta versions are better than downloading.... (i prefer standalone v.16633) the only standalone version I have...

All is well now. Have both, Vista and XP installed and no issues. Set up the EIDE HD as master; the SATA has no jumper of course, so all are set to master. You can select the HD boot up sequence through the BIOS. XP is doing well with SP3.

I agree, especially with the onboard sound. It has sorround sound including six or eight speakers. The only thing that I don't like (and that's true about most motherboards) is that there's isn't much explanation about its different features. For example, "SSE/SSE2 Instructions (Default: Enable). It is used to set enable or disable Intel SSE/SSE2 Instructions." That's it; no where within the manual it tells you why to enable it or disable it or what it does.

Of course, if they would try to explain every single feature, they would have to write a large book, but at least they should point the users to a place where they can access that info. I guess most people would say that one can do an internet search, but when you search the internet, you tend to find hundreds of links and not always the correct one.
