System Restore Did Not Complete Successfully

Please let me know if I'm not in the right place. I didn't see any other posts regarding this issue.

I have a Dell Dimension E521 that I purchased with Vista Home Premium about a week after Vista was released. I have not been able to successfully use a sysem restore point. When the computer reboots it always comes up and says:

System Restore Did Not Complete Successfully. Your Computer's System Files and Settings Were Not Changed
Details:
An Unspecified Error Ocurred During The System Restore.

I have not really had a need to use System Restore, I was just wanting to see that it worked.

Thanks

Hi there I have seen this and know it to be related to 'a program that is running or has run during the current boot'.

It can be rectified by running the process from safe mode. When you turn on your PC before the vista loading screen appears press f8 and you can choose safe mode from the menu.

Respond if this has helped
