Hey guys - just needed your help. What do you think about Vista - have you upgraded to Vista yet. Any thoughts on what you liked and disliked in it, and any suggestions on when should I upgrade to Vista. Also, any suggestions on which computer should I buy, if I needed good customer support. Thanks guys for your help - Mark Smith |

| Love the title I upgraded on release. And I took the plunge to 64 bit as well! Vista is stable, fast, friendly and secure! When it comes to buying a computer, if you are in need of good support then the large companies (dell, hp, gateway etc) all seem to be good. Obviously, any hardware that comes with the PC will be compatible, however, if you are going to be using any old hardware, check online to see if there are updates/issues before upgrading if the hardware is irreplaceable and necessary. Everyone loves Vista around here... and I am sure you will do too! crabby |

| Hello Mark and welcome, Vista has some great new features and programs and its definitely worth looking into. I would say your best bet is to buy Vista pre-installed on a new computer as a new computer is more than likely to be designed for vista, it will avoid most hardware troubles that you would have if you were to but Vista for an older machine. Take a look at this article witch tells you what Vista is all about and what new feature are available in vista. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Vista

| Welcome Mark. I agree with the others. I want to emphasize how nice the Vista interface is, particularly with Aero, how stable Vista is, and that almost all main stream software works with Vista one way or another. Also, I recommend the Dell XPS service and the Gateway service. Both are excellent. I would not buy a Dell unless I bought an XPS and, thus, got the level of XPS service I was willing to pay for. Both Dell XPS service and all Gateway service are located in the US, and getting through the queues is relatively fast.

| I will have to agree with everyone also I Love my Vista Business and will be looking forward to upgrading my wife's XP box rig sometime in the future with I think Vista Premium. My rig is up 24/7 and I cannot recall a BSOD have had some stupid errors but other than that is very stable, but there are the people who right of the bat have had problems with Vista and they will badmouth the OS to no end.

| The title of this thread alone made me click on it, lol. I almost went to Dictionary.com to see if this was a real word I heart Vista as well. We are still using XP here at work (I don't expect a migration will occur soon) and coming home to Vista in the evening is like coming home to XP from Win98. ![]()

| Well, degradation is a word. Why not upgradation? I'm willing to call it a word, but I am more the deconventional type.
