Vista(Overview)

Hey guys, have you tried any new features in Vista, what do you like the most and what do you hate. Have you given a try to Vista Search, what do you think about it. I have a Vista in my Home, but at work, we are still using Windows 2000. Are you guys also still using older versions of Windows at work, any sense on when will they upgrade. Greatly appreciate your thoughts - Mark Smith

There is so much stuff I don't like about vista

Like the strange security features, bulkyness, slowness etc

But what I don like about it, is that it is one of the only proper out of the box operating systems, and it is defiantely a step up from XP.

We are still using WinXP Pro workstations and 2003 servers here at work. Since our accounting software is IE6 based, we haven't even moved up to IE7 yet. We will have to wait for our vendor (ADP) to upgrade their programs to work with Vista and IE7.

What I do not like about Vista.
1. Not all Vista Compatible devices work correctly. (No problems with exact same in XP.)
2. Overclocking is almost none existent..many intermittent problems happen
(XP either worked or failed. simple to deal with)
3. Security Features are a pain the the BUTT... click to say yes, then click to agree... even with set to run as ADMIN... stupid IMHO.
4. XP Had not problems with this... set once and go.
5. Monster size when this was done only to defeat being PIRATED.
(What a joke this was).
6. Packaged with WOW that for the most part I will NEVER USE except to test. (like Lego + tab) or (Alt + tab)
7. Office 2003 was not compatible with Office 2007. What a farce.
8. No SCSI Drivers yet after 5 + years. testing ( I have 3rd party drivers),
XP had them by default.
9. Very FEW Modem drivers.. ..XP loved my 56KB HSP v.92
10. reserved for later publication.

What I do like about Vista..
1. FASTER then a speeding bullet... approx 1m 4s boot from cold start.
When it finds new device average time to boot is 1m 48s.
2. Shut down is under 1m average is 42s to 45s
