Vista ready hybrid hard drive

According to Gizmodo, Samsung will be announcing a new hybrid hard drive that is Vista-ready.

Quote:
Not exactly like the 32 GB Flash drive that Samsung rolled out in March, the hybrid hard drive (HHD) is a combination flash and standard hard disk that’s going to be used to cut down boot times of laptops and PCs.

Microsoft’s new Windows ReadyDrive will be reintroduced May 24th to take advantage of these new types of drives at the annual Windows Hardware Engineering Conference—they were announced last WinHEC as a project code-named "Piton". The drives and the software should be out around the time Vista is launched, since they’ve been tailoring the drives for use in the new OS.

What does this means to you? Well, if you have one of these drives with Vista, expect to boot really, really fast. Great for the living room Media Center machines that are going to be built on Vista.

Any idea how much they would cost? I would have to have something to make windows boot very very fast.

I never turn off my computers because I can't stand waiting for them to reboot.

the hybrid hard drive was thought of because the standard disk drive takes a lot of power from the laptops so they thought hey dont the flash drives take less energy to use than disks then everyone at the table was like ohhh i see and there you have it the birth of the hybrid

the thing that makes it hybrid is that it uses flash memory for all the programs you use more often (faster loading times less energy consumption) and it still uses the disk drive for everything else so its basically two drives in one... hybrid.
i hope this helped
