Hello mates at VB I have vista at long last Over the next (I am guessing) few days/weeks a will be doing somthing of which I belive no-one on this site has done before. This being a series of reports of Microsoft Windows Vista RC1 5600. Before I begain I would like to say please be kind this is going to take me a long time to do . Also I would like to thank "Crabby" of VB for helping me to be able to use Vista. My final notes before stating some of my information my be in correct if so I in advance but I will try my best, PS: I would like to see intelligent duscission on the issues raised.0.00: Installation: TimeLine: Notes: (starts from after putting the cd in): Windows Loading File Screen approx 2-4 mins st Install (Click Install: Note: relase notes are also here) Product-Key: The main thing I would like to say at this point is well done Microsoft for putting in an on-screen keyboard at this point! Partiton optitions: at this point, they are the same as allways. Next what I call the main install in which each part as shown as a percentage after this the computer reboots. Now we are getting into the good stuff next is the naming of the computer and the picking of your desktop wallpaper. After this your user-acount picture is to be selected, and date and time optitops are to be set. Then Vista scalles to the computers hardwere in this case no aero but nm! Lastly: all this has a grate UI not to mention that the Vista install boots into a UI. Coming soon: Start Menue and defalt UI. Feel Free to comment! ANY SPELLING PROBS ECT PM ME PLZ thanks!!!!

Yeah Josh I'm looking fwd to it. Commenting about the installation, although Vista takes longer than WinXP, at least on my PC, it's better in sense that u can enter the serial number and than basically leave it alone to complete the installation. I did a winxp installation a while back and left it alone and when I came back it was still waiting for me to decide on network options.

Anyone else notice that when the install is 'copying windows files' (ie the first step) that it is instantaneous? That bugs me as is obviously a complete lie! Glad your Vista is finally up and running Josh crabby

When installing RC1 whats the deal with the load driver option?? im guessing its so u can boot fully of the DVD disk so u can delete and make partitions on ur hard drive...but when i pess it my pc frezzes up for a few mins then it says driver not found and i cant press back so i have 2 restart the windows setup up again lol.....Strange hey.....

Load driver gives you the ability to load any 3rd party SATA or RAID drivers which your hard drives may require before they can be seen by the setup. It probably freezes up because it is trying to find any hardware which is yet to be addressed and finds none so aborts in an unusual way. You have defianately found a bug there Clicking stuff is fun :P crabby

My install is probably faster than XP apart from the pauses that I find before installation. And after the install it takes me ALOT less time to set it up as I wish. Anyone else wonder what the install does when it 'optimses' vista? I can't figure out what it could be unless microsoft have gone the whole hog and compile items from source dependent on hardware. That could explain alot of the inconsistencies we are finding crabby
