Hey Guys, I wanted to start a new vista forum at vistazone.info and I was wondering if could give some advice on how to get a forum up and running. My domain is hosted by 1&1 and they offer Linux and Ms webhosting options...and I am not sure what kind of tools do you need to create a forum. Please HELP!! Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks Mik P.S. Hope you guys do not take this question the wrong way! |

| Lol... hope it goes well for you The person you need to talk to is dazzlin, she owns this site. Unfortunately I believe you are too late for a Vista forum now, a year too late in fact You might want to setup a forum for the next version of windows crabby |

| First, you'll need some forum software. Some are free, some are not. phpbb is probably your best bet. Then you need to do some behind the scenes work to apply a theme to it, make some management decisions, etc. Once you've got the board all set up, then it's time to attract members. That's the really really hard part. That usually takes either some SEO and internet marketing knowledge and some luck. You might want to check out some forums that are devoted to helping forum owners (adminfusion comes to mind). Good luck!

| "building competition" pffft!!! What a joke. I am familiar with that forum. I joined there but don't post on it. The webpage scrolling is jerky (at least in IE7) which bugged me. Anyway, good luck on your site

| Now let's be fair. Every forum has its own style and method of dealing with issues like this. In fact, most forums would probably take the "we dont want to discuss competition" approach, though not all would necessarily be hardlined about it. If you asked the same question at 10 different forums, it's possible that 9 of them would kick you out as well. That's a normal forum admin response to that type of question. So let's not bash the other forum for doing what most other forums would do. Ok? Rock on.
