Like Crabby mentioned, the cheapest copies to get is the OEM; as for free, you'll have to find some sweep-stake or something similar and hope to get lucky. But as Crabby said, it's much harder now since Vista has been released.

I did finally installed Vista Business on my laptop last night. I did an upgrade to XP and it took just over an hour...from start until I was ready to enjoy it. So far haven't have any issues and it's working just as fast as XP. My Windows Performance is an unbelievable 1.0; but it works fine.

Subscribe to TechNet for about $350. You can get both Vista and Office 2007, for example, via TechNet to use until you decide whether to buy or not. You probably would get Vista on a new VAIO.

My Express Upgrade Business is on the way. It will go uninstalled though. Maybe I can sell it. Upgrading to Ultimate is not worth it just to have another Ultimate key. Maybe I can get MS to downgrade me to Home Premium for free.

Oh, and my laptop, which has a 1.0 score, always has been very good with Vista. But, Vista definitely in not as fast as XP on either of my machines. Have you done a Passmark comparison of Vista and XP on your machine(s)? You are the only one I know of that says Vista is as fast as XP.

Just a thought, but if i buy a copy of Windows Vista for the USA, because its almost 2 US Dollars to the British pound...does that mean i would pay almost half price than i would of if i brought it from good old rule Britannia???

If Ultimate cost, 378.99 lbs in GB and $378.99 in the US, then, yes, you would get it for half price since (378.99 x $2) / $378.99 = 2 (i.e., all assuming it takes $2 to buy one pound. How much does Ulitmate (both 32-bit and 64-bit) cost in GB? Ultimate is $378.99 for both versions currently at newegg.com.

I've stopped testing my PC a while back; I just run the applications and compare that to when I had XP. I think eventually I'll forget that XP ever existed. The 1.0 score is due to the graphics card; the rest of the scores are just fine.

Me too exactly on my laptop. I am doing some testing currently on my desktop because of my new drive. I've especially quit testing ReadyBoost. It actually was causing performance decreases on my desktop, and I am not concerned about ReadyBoost and my laptop. Go figure.

Cool stuff, i hate OEM though, my computer fails and needing to Re-install OS from beggining, OEM won't do it, so i hate it.

OEM does allow any type of install... infact it is the same disk as retail Just with a different type of key.
