| Just been onto MS's site and the sys reqs you posted ARE true!!! Seems at considering as Vistanoob says, Office 2007 has much lower specs and is easily more powerful. As Works is the budget offering from MS rather than Office, I wonder if the high sys reqs are due to extra multimedia features? The disk space seems a lot too. Probably due to tons and tons of templates. But why more disk space needed for Vista?? I know some retail versions of Works used to have extras such as Encarta included. Not sure with ver 9.0. |

| Hi Josh, Works has spell check, in the word processor, (which in version 9 is the same as Office Word,2002 if I remember correctly.) I don't know if there is a program update out, I haven't checked. I agree with the other guys that 1.5 GB of RAM seems really excessive for Works when 1 Gig will run Office. I think there is a misprint that followed all the way down to the instructions on the box. I did think of turning off areo to run it if necessary, but would much rather just run it like I do all my other apps. So you're getting Version 8, right on! The word processor will be excellent and there are probably features like a dictionary and calendar as well as the usual database and spreadsheet apps. Version 6 and 9 have greeting card, label, brochure, letterhead, and lots of other features in what is called the "Task Launcher", a handy place to access all the features. So 8 would have all of those too I am sure. Thanks for the input guys. Last edited by Vistanoob : 12-15-2007 at 09:15 PM. |

| I contacted MS about it and I'm waiting for their response. It has to be a missprint; I can't think any application, other than some games and CAD, that need so much RAM.
