I use several different 3rd party programs to remove JUNK...
many are very good, some are not very good... but
sample: almost all TEMP, temp~, tmp~, bak, ba~ plus other files can be deleted...
after you delete them with (recommended) ctrl + del . saves from filling the trashcan... REBOOT... some of the above will be hidden... so to remove you need to allow hidden to be seen... or use a good 3rd party remover.
Sys Mechanic is good, Vista Manager is good ( I use). You should then also use a REG CLEANER to remove the junk left over from these junk files...
I use REG VAC and Vista Manager for this...

i was also reffering to junk you could remove from a vista image prior to deployment to minimize it's size, and yes, there's also Temp files there...

What you meant was from the image prior to installation... that is different.

Sorry I mis understood. but YES, there are many thing you can remove.. but the easiest way is INSTALL XP SP2... THEN INSTALL THE convert XP to Vista pack... that is the smallest version of Vista there is ... or if you insist on installing from the Vista DVD... install BASIC..
or are you refering to: Windows Vista Ultimate Ultra Lite 32 Bit - 680 mb!
which if you strip Vista to XP SP2 is about the same...

You actually get more from XP SP2 than the Lite Stripped version of Vista..

The license you agree to when you open the packaging of a Vista disk stipulates that you may not alter the product in any way. So, basically, as soon as you touch the image it is unsupported

Yes, and last but not the least the quote above by Crabby is the most important..
Modify the ISO other than as prescribed by MS and it is NOT LEGIT. and none legit copies of Vista should not be asking questions on how to do.. reason. When the reply to a very accurate HOW TO FIX is "but my copy does not have that function." or that does not work on my version or that is GREYED OUT...

You can Slipstream official updates, patches, fixes into the original ISO, and still remain LEGIT. To slipstream you can find the official recommended method + code(s) in the MS site, with a little bit of looking.

Plus there are many other sites some unofficial that show you how to slipstream...

After a short pause, XP SP2 Setup will combine, or slipstream, the SP2 files into the XP install.

All the above commands are manually typed using the "CMD" function..

What I have showed you is Official Legit ways to do it..and any other method makes your copy 100% NONE COMPLIANT or ILLEGAL.
