It's still not working on this side. I have done every trick in the book and I still can get the task bar trasnparent. This wasn't the case at all with RC2. The issue began when I went to RTM and now Home Premium Final. I did order a 64-bit DVD, so maybe when it arrives I'll know for sure if that will make a difference.

The method quoted works. How it work is by literally creating a full screen 'windowed' window (ew! at 'windowed' window). Are you saying aero still doesnt work at all? If so, did you clean install when you received final?

Aero works, but the taskbar is not transparent. If I minimized the window, the taskbar takes over the color scheme of Vista Aero theme, but if I maximized it, it'll become opaque color. No, I did not do a clean install with the new DVD, because, except for the taskbar, everything is running just so perfect, plus I want to install the 64 bit version. I will take the clean install route (like if I have a choice) when I get the 64 bit DVD.

Well I finally got my taskbar transparency back. I'm sure you all want to know how I did it. Good. Let me tell you...I don't have a clue. But it's transparent.

It has to be an update issue from Microsoft. I was getting the transparent taskbar with RTM until MS came out with all kinds of updates during Vista's released to the public. I'm guessing that a newly just released update fixed the problem, but it'll be difficult to determine which update. I updated my ATI Radeon X550 driver about six/seven days ago, so that couldn't be what fix it.

Another way to make your windows maximized with glass effect, just enlarge it, without usiong maximize button.
