Ok..I'm trying to fix a networking problem I'm having and decided to check my firewall settings. I was a bit freaked out when I saw this. Is it me or am I over reacting? Does anyone know if this was a reported bug? ![]()

| Thats a little deceptive. The firewall service is always started unless you tell the service not to start. However, the firewall its self can be truned on and off, so the pics you posted and what your seeing are correct, the firewall service is started but the firewall its self is turned off. Its not a bug. The service being started doesn't mean that the firewall its self is on, it just means the service is available to you if you want run the firewall. Quote:

| You need to figure out which program turned off your firewall, if you didn't do it manually. It usually happens when one install a third party security suite like Norton or Trend Micro. Even when the software is removed, Vista's firewall remains off, but you'll get a notification, unless the "Don't notify me and don't display the icon" has been selected.
