Heya I have had to re install my vista as I have been having problems with the start up.Anyways have reinstalled and I think I have all the relevant updates but things like youtube,BBCi player etc do not work :-( I have the latest version of flashplayer and installed the k codecs lite pack but they still wont run longer than 2 seconds  Can anybody help me??I would love to have XP back and I would never recommend Vista as it has ben nothing but a problem since I had it.       |

| Assuming your still using internet explorer You could always try changing your browser for IE to Firefox, Firefox is a lot faster and more functional than Internet Explorer in my opinion. You can download it Here, you will also need to download the Firefox Version of Flash. Good Luck!

| The codec pack does nothing of use, just get rid of it and install VLC. Once you have gotten rid of the codec pack, I'd try and reinstall the flash player per this: deconcept » Corrupt Flash Player install after IE 7 upgrade crabby |

| I'm sure the suggestions offered by ProCookie and Crabby will help you solved your issue(s). One thing though, you mentioned having to re-installed Vista due to previous issues. The disk that you are using to install Vista, is it an original disk or a disk burnt from an ISO?

| Heya thanks for your replys.Firstly I use VLC player anyways but that doesn't help me with accessing youtube/bbci player/itv catch up etc.Those are the programmes im having trouble with.Ive unistalled the codecs as someone else suggested and I have un/reinstalled flash player and that also is no good To answer the who reinstallation of Vista I do it from the root menu(f8 button) and it re installs from there,I dont use a disc as one never came with the laptop. Its a 32 bit home basic version if that helps  Also does anyone know how to uninstall Norton anti virus as its not listed in my uninstal programmes list and I hate using it |

| For the looks of it, you have more than just those issues, of course I don't have access to your PC so I cannot tell you for sure. But I suspect that even if you get those issues resolved, many others will pop-up. If Norton running at all? Does it shows on the All Program's menu? If it does show, check to see if there's an Uninstall Option. If it's not running, it can be deleted through explorer, but the registry keys must be removed as well. Since you had to reinstalled Vista due to problems, I suggest you get a Vista DVD from the manufacture of your laptop; they are supposed to provide you with a DVD free of charge. You may also want to gt info from this site: How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and product upgrades, and replace product manuals. Having a DVD may be necessary to repair Vista without reinstalling it along with all the garbage that you may not want.

| Your issue with videos could actually be related to Norton! I would suggest getting the Norton Removal Tool and trying to uninstall it with that. I think it currently removes all Norton stuff up to AV 2007. Once that is completed, and you are sure Norton has been slain... try the videos again and let us know. Also, uninstall quicktime/realplayer... and if you need either of these, reinstall with no file associations of browser plugins. crabby |
